ESPN is reporting that long awaited title defense by Youngstown Middleweight champ Kelly Pavlik will fight top contender Paul Williams on October 3rd. The fight will take place at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. The report reads:
"Goossen and I have agreed to all terms and we are going to contract for the fight," Todd duBoef of Top Rank told ESPN.com. "We look forward to a formal announcement."Pavlik, 27, comes in with only one blemish on his record (35-1, 31 KOs) . Williams is 28 years old also with only one loss on his record (37-1, 27 KOs) so the bout is shapes up to be a dandy for boxing fans.
Said Goossen, "I'm just happy that we've finally come to terms and gotten this resolved. Now we can move forward."
A news conference is being planned for next Tuesday in New York.
