Williams to fight for middleweight crown

Aiken's Paul Williams will fight champion Kelly Pavlik for the middleweight title on Oct. 3 in Atlantic City, N.J.
ESPN.com, which first reported the fight, said a formal announcement is being planned for next Tuesday.
"He's supposed to be everything, he's supposed to be a killer," said Williams' trainer George Peterson, who confirmed the fight Tuesday night. "We're supposed to be in trouble, hot water. It's supposed to be a dangerous fight, but we don't care.
"We're going to convey that Paul is real and needs to be reckoned with."
Pavlik, who will be defending his unified titles for the third time, is 35-1 with 31 KOs. Williams is 37-1 with 27 KOs.
"We're going to have to put on some weight, five or six pounds. We're going to be awfully small to fight this guy," Peterson said.
The bout is scheduled to be televised on HBO.
