WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik could box veteran Winky Wright in October, report says

Time is running short before Oct. 3. That's when cable network HBO reportedly hopes to televise a fight featuring WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik of Youngstown.
Pavlik's handlers have negotiated with several boxers for the matchup, but the three entities - HBO, Team Pavlik and a prospective opponent - have not been able to close a deal.
Now, Michael Marley of the NY Boxing Examiner reports he's hearing talk of a proposed Pavlik fight against Winky Wright, who at 37 is 10 years older than Pavlik.
Writes Marley:
HBO fight buyers really want to make a dream match between Pavlik and wonder boy Tall Paul Williams, but both Al Haymon (Williams) and his sworn enemy Bob Arum (Pavlik) want top dollar.
HBO's budget is fairly depleted for 2009, so the prime cable network views Williams-Pavlik as a 2010 megabout. Wright is anxious to fight once more this year even at reduced prices. Does Pavlik, whose last bout was a stoppage of Marco Antonio Rubio in February, feel the same? We shall soon find out.
